EPIS fast and easy product management

EPIS

EPIS, the Electronic Product Identification-System, makes the registering and management of your load restraint, hoisting and fall arrest products easier than ever before, thanks to modern technology with RFID transponders. The EPIS database has been enhanced to include many convenient functions for efficient product management, documentation and stockkeeping and now also has networking capability.

You can very conveniently import existing test and product data into the new EPIS. To this end, with the Importer, EPIS offers you a helpful tool – a forward looking system with which you can save lots of time and administrative work. Part of the system solution is a free customer portal on the internet which reduces your administration costs and makes conventional paper archiving superfluous. The circle closes in combination with Evers' testing/inspection service.

The intelligent functions of the new EPIS software also clearly make many routine product management tasks easier: Preparation and maintenance of inventory lists, additions and withdrawals, documentation of tool lives, tests, inspections and repairs become far easier.

How the new EPIS software extends your options:

  • You can see at a glance which products are due for testing. - EPIS organises, plans and documents regular maintenance and service intervals for you (with reminder function).
  • All products already in use can also be included in the EPIS database, whether with or without transponder.
  • Copying your existing data from Excel is extremely convenient thanks to the well-thought through Importer.
  • Integrate photos, logos, spare part and price lists in your documents.
  • Thanks to its networking capability, several users can access the test data and work with EPIS simultaneously.
  • The user interface is based on standard Office and Windows applications and is therefore easy to use.
  • It is possible to prepare inventory lists and product cycle analyses using an Excel interface.
  • The update service is free of charge during the whole licence period.

How the EPIS customer portal works

The customer portal enables online access

With this free service your product documentation becomes highly efficient. Your documents, product and test data is completely deposited on the online portal www.epis-kundenportal.de. To do this, you or Evers send the test data to SpanSet as a Zip file and Spanset imports it into the database for you free of charge. You can then conveniently call up your current product data via the online portal with password protection, for example data regarding pending or completed tests and repairs. You can see how it works above.

Because all the data is stored centrally and is available at any time, you can even maintain your complete product documentation without paper – which relieves you long-term. You can of course print out test certificates for your products as and when needed or view the product history in the online portal. Thanks to the search and filter functions you quickly find the required information. It is even more efficient for you if you leave the regular tests and inspections to Evers. Testing, service and documentation are then provided by a single source. You gain valuable time.

Another advantage of the online customer portal: You can directly view all your product data, whenever and wherever you want. It is also possible to call up the data using a mobile phone with internet capability – which means you can prove proper, safe working according to the regulations even if you are on construction sites. As you can see: With little effort, EPIS places you on the safe side – regardless of whether you test yourself or make use of Evers' convenient testing and documentation service.

EPIS essentially consists of four elements:

1. RFID transponder:

One of four RFID transponders available to choose from is attached to each product which is to be electronically managed. The unmistakeable code of each transponder (tag) makes each product uniquely identifiable. Depending on the model and product, transponders can be attached by means of a wire loop or Dyneema rope, sewn in, screwed on and/or glued on. They resist temperatures of -25°C to +70°C. Die Under normal circumstances, transponders have a life of at least 10 years.

2. Mobile data recording device MDE:

The docking station is the easy to handle interface with the PC. The data is transferred without contact and can only be changed by authorised persons. That ensures a high degree of security against manipulation and inadvertent changing of the data. During a test, the data of a product can also be read out and temporarily stored in the MDE. The MDE is equipped with software in different languages, e.g. German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Hungarian, Spanish and Rumanian. Its robustness (class of protection IP 65) makes it suitable for even the most adverse conditions.

3. Docking station:

The docking station is the easy to handle interface with the PC. It is compatible with all Windows versions from Windows 98. The mobile writer and reader is simply plugged into the docking station to start the data synchronisation with the database. At the same time, the MDE is recharged.

4. EVAP database:

The registered product data is managed using the corresponding EVAP database. You can print out useful reports and inventory lists at any time by outputting the data via the Excel interface and further processing it in a spreadsheet.
