Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene (abbreviation PP, occasionally also called polypropene) is a partially crystalline thermoplastic and belongs to the polyolefins (saturated polymer) group. Polypropylene is produced by the polymerisation of the monomer propene (propylene) with the help of catalysts.

As, unlike too many other polymers, the molecular structure, the mean molar mass, its distribution, copolymers and other parameters vary greatly and can therefore also affect the properties, there are a large number of grades of PP.

Polypropylene (PP) is used, e.g. in films, expanded plastics (expanded plastics), injection moulding and deep-drawn (extruded) packagings.
